What We Believe
What We Believe
At Base 1520, our beliefs are rooted in the truths of Scripture as expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Here’s a summary of what we affirm:
I. The Scriptures
II. God
There is one true and living God who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully and equally God, yet distinct in role.
III. Man
Humanity is uniquely made in the image of God but is marred by sin, separated from God, and in need of salvation through Christ.
.
IV. Salvation
Salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who reconciles us to God. It includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification.
.
V. God's Purpose of Grace
God’s sovereignty ensures salvation, calling His people to persevere in faith while trusting in His promises.
.
VI. The Church
The church is a local body of baptized believers who are united by faith in Christ and called to worship, discipleship, and mission.
*
VII. Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Baptism is the public declaration of faith through immersion, symbolizing union with Christ. The Lord’s Supper commemorates His death and anticipates His return.
.
VIII. The Lord's Day
Sunday, the Lord’s Day, is set aside for worship, rest, and spiritual renewal, celebrating the resurrection of Christ.
IX. The Kingdom
God’s Kingdom encompasses His rule over all creation. It is present now in Christ and will be fully realized at His return.
X. Last Things
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the world, establish His eternal kingdom, and bring His people into everlasting joy.
.
XI. Evangelism and Missions
The Great Commission calls all believers to share the Gospel and make disciples, extending God’s love to every nation.
.
XII. Education
Christians are called to pursue truth, develop their minds, and pass on the faith, recognizing God as the source of all wisdom.
.
XIII. Stewardship
All we have comes from God. We are called to faithfully manage our time, talents, and resources for His glory.
.
XIV. Cooperation
Churches should work together in love and unity to advance God’s Kingdom, respecting local church autonomy.
.
XV. The Christian and the Social Order
Christians are to pursue justice, righteousness, and the common good while upholding the sanctity of life, family, and marriage.
.
XVI. Peace and War
Christians are called to seek peace, but they also recognize the need for just defense against evil.
.
XVII. Religious Liberty
Every person is responsible to God alone for their faith and practice, with freedom of conscience and worship protected.
XVIII. The Family
God created marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. The family is the foundation of society, where love, respect, and biblical truth are modeled.
